Blum & Poe is pleased to announce an exhibition by Chris Wilder. A low-tech interactive installation in progress throughout the month, "Project Blue Book" takes its name from an "exhaustive" US military study, conducted from 1947 to 1969, into the nature of UFOs. After 22 years of research, the military concluded that "there has been no evidence indicating that sightings categorized as 'unidentified' are extraterrestrial vehicles." Using the 85,000 pages of documents available from the National Archives as a conceptual starting point, Wilder becomes a storyteller/guide of reported illuminations, hallucinations, truths and tall tales of a discredited universe. Wilder at his most cohesive, the installation simultaneously subverts formal notions of painting and mock acceptance of the US Government's ceaseless attempts at concealment.
