On Art and Philosophy

November 19, 2011
Los Angeles

Lecture: Saturday, November 19, 6pm

Blum & Poe is very pleased to present a lecture on art and philosophy by distinguished German philosopher Marcus Steinweg, renowned for his collaborations with artists, including Thomas Hirschhorn and Rosemarie Trockel. Steinweg (b. 1971, Koblenz, Germany) lives in Berlin and is currently organizing a lecture series at the Volksbühne Berlin. He has written extensively on philosophy and literary themes and creates analytical diagrams, which formalize his philosophical ideas and strive for utmost clarity.

Any work of art borders on the domain of the nonexistent, which is, in our vocabulary, the dimension of incommensurability. What appears in it is not something divine, not an infinite depth, but the brittleness and precariousness of reality itself. (M. Steinweg)

A project organized in cooperation with BQ, Berlin.
