Sharon Lockhart, James Welling

January 28 – March 4, 2000
Santa Monica

Opening January 28–March 4, Blum & Poe will present an installation of photographs by Los Angeles-based photographers Sharon Lockhart and James Welling.

Lockhart will present a new series of nine photographs entitled “Chronicle of Masonry Work (1999),” which were shot in the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. Documenting the repair of stone floors at the museum, the images follow a counter clockwise movement through the rooms showing the exhibits as well as the areas of either repaired or crumbling floor in front of them.

Welling, a keen influence on Lockhart's practice, will contribute a photograph from 1988, a detail of a dormer on a stable from the Glessner House, Chicago of 1886, as designed by the architect R.R. Richardson.
