Three Day Weekend: Here Here

Organized by Dave Muller
May 19 – 21, 2016
Los Angeles

Blum & Poe is pleased to present the Three Day Weekend project Here Here, a two-person exhibition featuring the work of Elizabeth Saveri and Norm Laich.

Norm Laich is a Los Angeles artist and sign painter. Laich began his sign painting career in the time of hand-painted signs and silkscreening, later transitioning to cut vinyl signage. Blum & Poe and Laich have been working together for the past 22 years, and for this exhibition Laich collaborates with Dave Muller to pull files from the archives, recreating wall texts commissioned from him by the gallery over the last 11 years. Installed throughout the gallery's entry foyer, the signage now functions as a mnemonic cloud.

Elizabeth Saveri is a longtime veteran of Three Day Weekend events, having first shown with TDW in 1994.  Her intimate oil paintings on wood depict moments of quiet, contemplating views tangential to whatever is on the main stage. In this exhibition Saveri's paintings of the gallery foyer, regions surrounding Blum & Poe, as well as previous TDW events, provide "images" to go along with Laich's "text."

Three Day Weekend is a roving project space operated by Dave Muller. Exhibitions are generally three days long, occurring on holidays and their weekends (however, there are exceptions). While currently based in Los Angeles, TDW has organized shows in New York, Houston, Vienna, Tokyo, Malmo, and London. Three Day Weekend was established in early 1994 in downtown Los Angeles. Here Here is the latest in a series of TDW events held at Blum & Poe from Summer 2015 to Summer 2016.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 6-8pm. The exhibition will be on view from Thursday, May 19 - Saturday, May 21, 2016 from noon-6pm.
