Space K Seoul is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Brooklyn-based artist Eddie Martinez. Titled To Be Continued, the exhibition sheds light on the artist’s oeuvre from 2005 to the present, which effortlessly fuses figuration and abstraction. The presentation features 35 drawings and paintings arranged both chronologically and thematically, including a new series focusing on Martinez's practice of "constant drawing."
Martinez's paintings are characterized by swift lines and bold colors, while everyday found materials add a unique texture to the canvases. Surrounding objects that catch the artist's eye are transferred onto paper and canvas and transformed into entirely new landscapes, while repeated motifs give a sense of coherence to the unfamiliar. The familiar objects of everyday life are gradually revealed among the shapes, stimulating our imagination through the artist’s personal experience.
