October 31, 2022

Videography by Shu Nakagawa. Subtitles translated by Lillian Canright. Sound design: Iwao Yamazaki.

On the occasion of Kenjiro Okazaki's solo exhibition TOPICA PICTUS Revisited: Forty Red, White, And Blue Shoestrings And A Thousand Telephones, and in conjunction with Art Week Tokyo 2022, Blum & Poe unveils a special program online. Created after suffering a stroke, Okazaki discusses his new body of work in relation to notions of rehabilitation, surrealism, Freudian theory, and much more. He participates in dialogue with critic Ryo Sawayama and scholar Andrew Maerkle, as an exercise in a longer process of developing an in-depth critical essay on these subjects.
