In 2021, Yoshimoto Nara's special exhibition in Taiwan toured to Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Tainan. The exhibition featured—for the first time in Taiwan—Nara’s painting Hazy Humid Day, which was inspired by the artist’s many visits to the country.

Starting in 2023, the Yoshimoto Nara Foundation and the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC) jointly launched the Traveling with Hazy Humid Day project and planned a ten-year exhibition tour in Taiwan, hoping this work of art, a symbol of the friendship between Japan and Taiwan, would create even more memories in Taiwan.

The touring exhibition’s first stop was Kaohsiung’s Neiwei Arts Center in 2023, and it will be making its second stop this year at the Penghu Reclamation Hall, a site featuring East-West fusion architecture with 90 years of history on Taiwan’s outlying island of Penghu. The exhibition will feature Hazy Humid Day alongside a showcase of Nara’s ceramic works for the first time in Taiwan, as well as the artist’s manuscripts and photographic works.
